Materials

Yarn Requirements (#3 Light/DK)

Light Yellow – approx. 20–25 g / 50–65 yd (46–59 m)
Cream – approx. 10–15 g / 25–40 yd (23–37 m)
Orange – approx. 3–5 g / 8–15 yd (7–14 m)
Light Pink – approx. 1–2 g / 3–6 yd (3–5 m)

Tools & Notions

3.25 mm or 3.5 mm crochet hook
Two 9 or 10 mm safety eyes
Polyfill fiberfill stuffing
Tapestry needle and stitch marker(s)

Upscaled size: Approx. 6–7 in. using CYC #5 bulky yarn and a 5 mm hook, or 8–9 in. using CYC #6 super-bulky chenille and a 5.5–6 mm hook. Adjust safety-eye size proportionally.

Gauge: Gauge is not critical for amigurumi, but maintain consistent, fairly tight tension so stuffing does not show and the finished proportions remain consistent.

Part 1: Head & Facial Features

1.1 Eye Rings (Make 2) – Cream

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Set aside until instructed to attach the safety eyes.

1.2 Head – Light Yellow

Eye placement: Before beginning the decrease, insert each 9–10 mm safety eye through the center of an Eye Ring, then through the head between R16 and R17. Position the Eye Rings symmetrically with approximately 3 sts between their inner edges. Secure the washers firmly inside the head.

Stuff the head firmly, shaping the lower portion into soft, rounded cheeks. Fasten off, leaving the neck opening open for assembly.

1.3 Cheeks (Make 2) – Light Pink

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

1.4 Beak – Orange

R1: 4 sc in MR. (4)
R2: [1 sc, inc] x2. (6)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Do not stuff. Flatten the opening and sew through both layers with 4 sts to close.

Part 2: Body & Limbs

2.1 Body – Light Yellow

2.2 Wings (Make 2) – Light Yellow

R6: sc in each st around. (9)

Do not stuff. Flatten the opening and sew through both layers with 4–5 sts. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

2.3 Feet (Make 2) – Orange

R1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
R2: inc x6. (12)
R3–R4: sc in each st around. (12)

Add a very small amount of stuffing. Do not flatten. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Part 3: Eggshell Cap

3.1 Eggshell Cap – Cream

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Part 4: Final Assembly

Head to body: Whipstitch the head securely to the body.
Eggshell cap: Position it over the top of the head, approximately covering Head R1–R14, and sew securely.
Eye rings: Sew the outer edges securely to the head, keeping each ring flat and centered around the safety eye.
Beak: Sew it to the center of the face at approximately R18, between the Eye Rings.
Cheeks: Sew directly below the Eye Rings, approximately between R18 and R20, slightly toward the outer edges.
Wings: Sew to each side of the upper body just below the head/body seam.
Feet: Sew to the lower front of the body at R6–R8 with approximately 3 sts between their inner edges. Keep the round openings against the body.
